1. Log on to Facebook and go to your Notifications page.
2. On the right-hand side you’ll see "Subscribe to Notifications." Click the "Your Notifications" link.
3. Go up to the URL in your browser and replace the word "notifications" with "status".
4. Highlight the entire URL and copy it (ctrl+c). This is an RSS feed of your FB status.
5. Login to Blogger.com and go to the Layout page for your blog.
6. Click on the "Add a Gadget" link in your sidebar.
7. A popup will appear. In the popup window, scroll down and click on "Feed."
8. Paste (ctrl+v) your URL from step 4 into the Feed URL box. Click "Continue."
9. Change the Title to "My Facebook Status" or whatever you prefer. Set the Show drop-down menu to the number of recent statuses you want to display (I selected "1" so I only display my most recent status). Check the Item dates checkbox if you want to display the date along with your status. Check the Item sources/authors checkbox if you want to display your name along with your status.
10. Click "Save" and you're done! Your status will now appear in your blog's sidebar. If you want to change where in the sidebar your status appears, click and drag the "My Facebook Status" box to wherever you prefer on your Layout page.
An alternate method of posting your FB status in your sidebar is to use a FB profile badge.

use twitter instead - they have all kinds of cool widgets like that

Why don't you just marry Twitter if you love it so much?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Justin! Always love your tips!
ReplyDeleteI like this new "tips" category!
ReplyDeleteThis rules, I wish Tumblr could do this...
ReplyDeleteI guess you could do it with a FB badge, Costa.
ReplyDeleteAny idea why I would be getting some sort of feed to a Net-Temps Job Search Feed when I paste in my URL? So weird.
ReplyDeleteIt probably means you have an error in your URL. Some nasty servers will throw you to an ad-laden site when they receive an incorrect request. It's a cheap, annoying, lazy, confusing way to make money but there you go.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how I can disable the links so that when someone clicks a status it doesn't take them back to my Facebook page? I don't really want readers to be able to see my full name that is shown on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteThere is no way that I know of to disable these links. There's also no way that I know of to keep your name from being publicly discoverable on Facebook -- anyone can see your name on Facebook, even if they're not logged in. The only way I can think to get around this is to remove your last name from Facebook.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fast response! I don't mind my name showing on Facebook, but I don't want any links on my blog that go to my Facebook page. I want my Facebook statuses on my blog, but no links back to Facebook. I hope that makes sense! Possible at all to disable these links?
ReplyDeleteYou can't do it with the method I described in this post, but you could do it with a FB profile badge.
ReplyDelete1. Create a FB badge by clicking on the "create a profile badge" link on your FB profile.
2. Edit the badge to include status updates and click "save".
3. Click the link to add the badge to Blogger.
4. Click the "edit content" link.
5. There will be a section of the code that starts with "< img" and ends with "/>". Delete everything but that code.
6. Click "add widget".
I think that should do it.
Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeletefail...not working, any better idea, fella?
ReplyDeleteIt's working for me... Sure you followed the instructions correctly, fella?
